I’m playing with this online word processor called buzzword from Virtual Ubiquity [an Adobe company]. It’s in beta release now, but it seems like a pretty solid contender for the new battleground for collaborative online word processors.

Also would be nice to wean me off my co-dependent MS Word relationship.

I’ve not played with Google Docs much, but as one pundit wrote

“The user experience it promised was truly breathtaking. Buzzword made google docs looks like your grandpas word processing app.”

I have to agree.

I know it’s exactly what the marketing geniuses at OfficeMax want us to do, but I’m going to encourage it anyway.

Go! Now! Make yourself a jazz-handing, dancing Christmas Elf! Chop Chop!

Here’s my first version, starring Reese, Auntie Beth (as the sultry, curvy elf) and Me (as the doofy out of sync elf).

Earlier this spring our trusty Canon Powershot began to die. It finally gave up the ghost sometime this summer after my travelin’ friend Kibby stopped by. Now, of course I would love to have a super fancy digital SLR camera, but as I have “opted out” of the working world for a few months, dropping 700 beans on a camera like that just isn’t the right thing to do.

Today our new camera came in — based on a glowing review from a friend of ours as well as the high-opinion of our local Cord Camera guy — we decided on the Fujifilm Finepix s700. Looks like a compact digital SLR, but at the price of a point-n-shoot.

I’ve taken 9 pictures so far, and they all look really excellent. The monkeys in the nursery agree:

Some time ago, I had read this article on the Pandora Music Genome project. Just recently I was reminded by my best friend in the whole wide world that it’s still around and evidently thriving. If you find yourself online most of the day listening to internet radio, I highly recommend signing up and let Pandora generate music lists for you. You create your own stations, and you can even control what is played (or never played again) by interacting with Pandora’s selection interface. I’ve created a couple of different channels based on some different genres, and Pandora does a neat job of matching up similar artists quite randomly…I can listen to the artists I know, plus new ones I wouldn’t have otherwise known were related to my interests. A very clever project.

Listen to Pandora now!
