I’m utterly exhausted, I can’t even write a proper blog post. That has much to do with an extremely active and downright mobile infant who had TWO major poopy blowouts within about an hour of each other this evening. So instead of composing my thoughts, I was doing diaper damage control. Big fun, that. Fortunately, C came home just in time to manage “Dukey: Revisited” and he handled it with much grace.
I think there might still be poo in my hair, actually. Parenting is SO SEXY.
Oma and Dit Dit made the trip out to stay with us for the long weekend. It ruled. Especially for Ronin, he LOVES his grandmas. I never quite see him get so worked up as he does when they step through my front door.
The Big Surprise: My very own parents made the trip down to Columbus, quite unexpectedly (for me). Made the Sunday afternoon cookout even more special! Hoo boy, was it hopping on my patio that evening!
Pie O’ Plenty: I have 2 whole “Just Pies” pies, Key Lime and Coconut Cream. Also, a couple of pieces of strawberry rhubarb pie. Please, people: Come to my house and eat these pies! I cannot be alone with them too long or I will eat them.
Zoo Trip: Saw gibbons, colobus monkeys, bonobos, gorilla (gorilla gorilla gorilla), okapi, kangaroos, manatee, rays, random fish, komodo dragon, orangutans, flamingos, ducks, tortise, gray African Parrots, and the rare Pink Hairless Monkey (with no tail). The Pink Hairless is a fierce creature, but we were lucky to catch her in her more docile states: Sleeping, and Eating Ice Cream.

nice montage.. I wonder if the zoo in Philadelphia has one of those pink monkeys?
Heavy emphasis on simian-viewing? Who woulda thought? Gorilla gorilla gorilla!
Any more coconut pie?
@Smithy-smith of course I couldn’t go to the zoo without careful observation of our simian friends!
And the pie has been delivered to your house.
Yum. Coconut pie for lunch-dessert today! Thanks!
How’d you get such good pictures through the various barriers? Aren’t the colobus monkeys surrounded by netting?
@Smithy-smith Yer welcome on the pie. The colobus monkeys do have a glass viewing port, I took the picture from there (with my zoom). Since i didn’t use flash, it was tough to get a clear shot sometimes because they were always in movement. Out of 15 pics, that one might have been the best.
Didn’t get any pics of the gorillas
